As a prospective patient or parent of a patient, we are happy to welcome you to AFD, Dr. Brian Chanpong’s anesthesia clinic for dentistry. Established in 2003, Dr. Chanpong has treated thousands of patients who required anesthesia services in order to access their oral health care needs. With the addition of Dr. Marciniak to our staff in 2012, Dr. Joiner in 2016 and Dr. Reimer in 2020, our three room facility provides over 2,000 general anesthetics a year to children, adults and patients with special needs who require dental work asleep. Our facility is dedicated to dental procedures and provide the most number of general anesthetics for dentistry in the province. Our surgical facility is open to all B.C. licensed dentists and each year, over 90 dentists and specialists utilize our office with the vast majority being pediatric dentists.
We hope that we can guide you through this process in order to make it as smooth as possible for you. On the day of the appointment, we will be providing the anesthetic and monitoring you or your child the entire time while your dentist concentrates on the dental work. Having two people take care of you or your child allows each of us to completely focus on our task at hand.
Please note: Our office is separate from your dentist’s office and so all questions and concerns related to anesthesia and/or finances should be directed to us. Any questions you have regarding the dental treatment should be referred to your dentist's office. On behalf of my staff and myself, we look forward to being a part of your or your child’s oral health care needs.

Dr. Reimer grew up in Manitoba where she started her career in health care as a nurses’ aide and then a registered nurse. In spite of loving pediatric intensive care nursing she wanted the challenge of medicine. After graduating from medical school in Winnipeg in 1985 and a rotating internship in London, Ont., she spent a year as a family physician in Churchill, MB and the Northwest Territories. This experience reinforced her passion for practising in under serviced regions. Further education led her back to London, Ont. where she completed her residency in anesthesia. During this time she married and had 2 sons. In 1992 she packed up the family and moved to Vancouver to specialize in pediatric anesthesia at BC Children’s Hospital. During her 29 years there she held many roles including Department Head for 12 years, UBC residency program director and physician lead for the design and build of the new Acute Care tower. She has also continued to follow her passion to ensure safe anesthesia for all children by travelling frequently to developing countries. Joining the anesthesia group at AFD will give her more time to pursue her other passion which is sailing.
Anita is our receptionist/office manager and has been with us since 2013. She will be the one who will guide you through the process and ensure all your paperwork is complete prior to your appointment. Anita loves to travel and speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.
